Discover original live music in the New Forest…

John Meriton

John Meriton is a Hampshire based singer songwriter known for his warm, powerful, and witty delivery. His songs draw on real people, places, and experiences capturing the essence of everyday life with honesty and charm.

Sarah Warwick

Sarah is a New Forest based singer songwriter and vocal guide whose work weaves together original songs, harmony, and a lifelong love of nature. These days you’ll find her writing music that’s spacious, melodic and heart-led – songs that offer both story and stillness.

Jonathan H. Klein

Hampshire based singer songwriter Jonathan H. Klein writes the kind of songs that smile through the rain. His music blends warmth and wit – acoustic reflections on life’s odd moments, misplaced hopes, and gentle absurdities.

Plum Loco

North Dorset band, Plum Loco are extraordinary. Tuneful witty lyrics delivered to a tight hypnotic groove, their music combines melodic and rhythmic surprise with the experience of being on the receiving end of a warm, chocolatey musical hug.

Mark Law (aka The Cap’n)

Based in the New Forest, Mark is a mischievous songwriter who loves the arcane and comedic. Solo or with The Curiosities, Mark can be found at the heart of noisy pub singalongs, belting out story songs, celebrating much loved local characters or staging pop up musical events (or protests) in unlikely locations.

Steve West

Steve has been a fixture of the New Forest folk scene for so long that we suspect that he has grown roots! With a discerning ear for a story and an eye for an injustice, Steve’s carefully crafted original songs explore universal themes which he delivers with a soft passion that belies their depth and scope.

Eddie Edwards (aka Eddie Woods)

Based in the New Forest, Eddie Edwards is a seasoned performer whose songs brim with wit, warmth, and worldly charm. Blending sharp original tunes with evocative classics, he brings humour and heart to every performance.

Pete Hanson

Pete Hanson is one of those songwriters who can find a song in the muddle of everyday life. Based in the New Forest, he’s a regular face on the local folk scene, playing at Milford Folk Club and in church worship bands.

Jon Ellis

Jon is deeply attached to Lymington and neighbouring villages although he lived away in Southampton for forty years. As a multi-instrumentalist, Jon will have a crack at anything involving a tin whistle, banjo, mandolin, and even the occasional ‘Poem of Protest’!

George Benn

Hampshire based songwriter George Benn crafts superbly original songs delivered with a wink and a wry sense of humour. Whether tackling the comedy of daily life, current affairs, love or historical themes, George’s insightful songs combine thoughtful observation with mischievous charm – his take on the London Olympics is as unforgettable as it is unprintable!

State of Undress

The “rocky, rootsy, fiddlesome” band from Dorset, State of Undress blend the fire of rock with the storytelling soul of folk. Their sets mix powerful original songs, reimagined traditional tunes, and a few favourite covers, all delivered with irresistible energy and heart.

Rangoon

Gritty realism? Rising body count? Relationships gone wrong? That, in a nutshell, is Rangoon. Defiantly original yet with the powerful drive of the blues, the live performances of this band are electrifying.

The Mighty Heartache

Defiantly untamed, The Mighty Heartache is a startlingly original band with a range of totally unique songs. We’ve attended gigs where the audience sighs at a heartfelt ballad one minute then bounces to their feet the next to a raunchy rockabilly number.

Captain Crackers and The Curiosities

Original satirical and story songs about much loved local people and places performed by an eccentric troupe of shape shifting musicians. CC&TC’s performances hark back to the era of Spike Jones, The Bonzos and Tom Lehrer yet with a decidedly modern twist.

Dave Broom

Dave is afflicted by the rare medical condition of ‘Mandolin Acquisition Disorder’ (or MAD). “I was at a party and somebody passed me one – it was only a small one – and I thought I couldn’t come to any harm if I just tried it.” 25+ mandolines later we’re not so sure…
